Volcanic Ash Could Last Months, Larger Nearby Volcano Could Soon Erupt Too – Eyjafjallajokull Volcano The earthquake build-up since the beginning of the year and subsequent eruptions at Eyjafjallajokull seem to be triggering the larger neighbouring volcano, Katla. For the last two days, Katla has shown a dramatic 200% rise in activity. Geophysicists at Icelands Institute of Earth Sciences call Katla a vicious volcano that will be locally and globally damaging.

Great report. My question is (if anyone knows) is I was under the understanding that Katla (a Super Volcano) last erupted over 10,000 ago. Last time it went off, it sent us into an ice age. According to what I read about the current one, it last went off in the early 1800′s & spewed ash for a year. My ? is with the 1823 incident, does that mean it didn’t “erupt fully” since Katla didn’t blow. This guy said 3 times along with Katla so I’m just wandering about this a bit more. Thanks!
@praeeo The big problem apparently is, that every time Eyjafjallajokull erupted in the past, it triggered Katla and soon afterwards Katla also erupted. Should this happen, the disaster would be immense. It is true the eruption of the Eyjafjallajokull volcano can take months. Geologists have been concerned about the general instability of the larger volcano (Katla) since 1999.
@praeeo Some geophysicists in Iceland believe that the Eyjafjallajökull eruption may trigger an eruption of Katla, which would cause major flooding due to melting of glacial ice and send up massive plumes of ash. On 20 April 2010, Icelandic President called on European and international experts to draw up plans to deal with a possible eruption of Katla.

@unicorn003 It would definitely be a tragic event.
@unicorn003 Thanks for responding. This definitely is a scary scenario, especially for the people of Iceland (since they are right there). May they all be safe! Take care!
why has my comment about nibiru been taken down regarding this volcano very very strange .
Sum 1 wants to hide somthing thats utube censorship 4 u
@cuntface688 because nibiru is B.S., lunatic… lol
@wintercosta
Proof, yeah you got none. lol
@unicorn003 Do you have scientific data which shows katla has had this increase? Because looking at all available online data, this is not the case? No increase at all!!
@blossy7 I dont have data this is according to Earth Sciences (sciencery com) and plenty other sites on the web.
@unicorn003 There has been only 1 quake in the area in the past 24 hours and that was under Eyjafjallajokull and not anywhere near Katla as such. Tremors on the Godabunga site remain constant and suggest that all of these recorders are indicating magma movement associated with the current eruption. Activity has not increased.
@unicorn003 That was a quote from someone who has all the scientific data available.
@blossy7 Thank you blossy – I work at the airport and we are really worried and scared, that Katla will erupt. We already have suffered quite a lot due tot he current volcano.
@unicorn003 Honestly, I would only become concerned if you hear anything like this from an Iceland Geologist. There are so many websites reporting inaccurate stories. You can be assured she is calm at the moment. Have a good night.
@sebaswildboy what retard! you talk about Nibiru. you need to proof. I just say: there is no fucking Nibiru.
@wintercosta It’s nice to trow “retards” or “lunatics” at people when you got no proof of nothing.
That makes you look like a retard,
@cuntface688 @cuntface688 I don’t know – must have been youtube?
