i booked a holiday for my pregnant Wife,23, daughter,5, son,3, and myself to Palma Nova, Mallorca in january 2010. We was due to arrive 18/5/2010 but due to a cancelled flight by easyjet only arrived on the 19/5/2010. I had phoned the travel operator and notified them about the cancelled flight on the morning of the 18th and that we would be arriving 24r hours later and they said that everything was ok and they would sort the details out. After eventually arriving at the hotel they informed us that there was no reservations made in our name and when they checked the history, the tour operator had NEVER made reservations for us at that hotel. When i spoke to my tour operated 1st they told that there had been a mistake with the and we had to be moved at the last moment. Then when i spoke to the tour operator supervisor and repeating our story to her, from my mobile at 10p/minute plus roaming charges from uk, she told me that the ‘volcanic ash’ had made them change our hotel, again at the last minute. Blatantly lied to on both times. The original hotel was booked as all inclusive but when was moved to a substitute hotel that was only all inclusive lite. I understand that tour operators may change our hotel accommodation but surely they cannot change it once I am stood in reception after arriving 24 hours later than scheduled. Does anybody know where I can find information and rules and regulations governing this sort of thing and if I am entitled to any compensation as this holiday was a complete nightmare from start to finish.
